Udaipur, January 20, 2025 - The Udaipur Devasthan Department plans to lease the historic Fateh Memorial at Surajpole Chauraha, converting it from a guesthouse (dharmshala) into a hotel. This move aims to enhance tourist convenience and generate higher revenue for the department.
Current Condition and Maintenance Issues
At present, the property functions as a dharmshala with one staff member and a guard. However, due to inadequate facilities and maintenance, the building is in poor condition. The rooms lack basic amenities such as attached bathrooms, leading to low occupancy.
Details of the Property
Fateh Memorial has 50 rooms, of which 10 have been allocated to the Tourism Department for a tourist reception center and other purposes. The remaining rooms will be leased to a private firm for 15 years. The lessee will be responsible for upgrading the rooms with modern amenities such as air conditioning, beds, and other facilities.
Revenue Generation and Previous Lease Examples
The lease is expected to generate Rs 43 lakh annually for the department. Last year, the Deva Darshan building near Fateh Memorial was also leased and converted into Hotel Devdarshan. This property, which previously operated as a dharmshala with 65 rooms, now generates Rs 42.76 lakh annually.
Low Rent Rates to Be Revised
Currently, the rent for a deluxe room with five beds at Fateh Memorial is just Rs 340/- per day, while a hall accommodating 20 people is available for Rs 800/- per day. These rates will be revised once the property is upgraded and converted into a hotel.
