The channel gates of Lake Swaroop Sagar were opened last night to transfer water into Lake Fateh Sagar. Since then the lake level has risen to nearly 2 feet. Before this water reached the lake its level was 5 feet 9 inches and today it has touched
7 feet 5 inches mark.

Thus, Fateh Sagar is now only 4 feet and some inches far from overflow. Madar (Chhota) has already been overflowing since yesterday. Nearly a dozen small and big lakes , dams and water bodies of the district is on the edge of overflow after plenty of rain that Mewar area has been receiving from last one week. According to sources, rivers and canals are also flowing well; Sisarma is flowing with water level of 3 feet, Nandeshwar channel 3 feet, Chikalwas head 3 feet 4 inches, Jakham 2.5 feet etc. Department of Irrigation has recorded 457mm of rainfall in Udaipur city in the past 24 hours. Som Pick- up received maximum rainfall of 1086 mm in the district whereas other parts of the regions including Banswara (1104), Dungarpur (663), Rajsamand (420), Chittorgarh (621), Pratapgarh (1173), Bhilwara (566) and Sirohi (735) has also recorded good rain in the last 24hrs. All major water resources of the region are filled and many are overflowing.
