Fatehsagar Makeover being proposed by City Administrators
In an initiative to improve traffic conditions and put a halt to waste dumping in Fatehsagar lake, Dr Subhodh Agrawal, Divisional Commissioner, Udaipur, on Sunday ordered the concerned authorities to shift the existing Bambaiya Bazaar on the banks of the lake to the Maharana Pratap Smarak compound (a.k.a. Moti Magri).
According to information given in a local Hindi daily, the eateries market at Fatehsagar is considered to be major reason for pollution and also a cause of heavy traffic during weekends due to uneven vehicle parking. Thus it has been advised by the Divisional Commissioner to have the stalls shifted to the Maharana Pratap Smarak compound.

Although the Divisional Commissioner had given spontaneous orders in favour of preserving the beauty of the lake, this was not effectively consulted with the Maharana Pratap Smarak Samiti, with whom the immediate ownership of the premises lies.
Yadhuveer Singh Shaktawat, Secretary, Maharana Pratap Smarak Samiti said, “We have not received any official notice on the same and shifting the market is not a permanent solution to the problem”.
Dr. Subhodh Agrawal, in a meeting held on 16th April, 2012 had organized a number of committees to improve the conditions of the lakes in and around city; one such team being under the supervision of B.R Bhatti, Additional District Magistrate, Administration will be implementing the orders.
According to sources, around 13 shop keepers were levied a fine of Rs. 500 last night for disposal of edible left-overs on roads and even rash drivers were charged for rough driving and parking around market area.
