A sudden fire erupted today (13 ^th April 2011) on Wednesday, at M.B Hopsital’s Operation Theatre at around 1:30 pm. It was reported that the fire broke out at main Operation Theatre and a heavy smoke was seen coming out from the ventilation. It was reported that the fire broke out at main Operation Theatre and a heavy smoke was seen coming out from the ventilation. A fire brigade arrived to the spot after 15 minutes, but understanding the seriousness of the situation two more fire brigades were called for assistance & fast recovery. This created a hustle & bustle in the compound, Large mob gathered outside the building. Somehow, Police and Fire brigade officials got control over the situation. Dr. F.S Mehta Medical Superintendent said “ fire was broke out in conference hall located near OT, the reason could be short circuit due to Air Conditioners”.. But in fact, there was no one inside conference hall and it was locked from inside, these raises a point – why ACs were on in an empty room? However, there are no reports of causalities because OT was completely vacant at the time of incident. Situation is reportedly under control and investigations are going on. Photos by Sayeed Ahmed
