Fire broke out today afternoon over a large land area in the MLSU campus near the Swarn Jayanti gate. The fire extended from the back gate of MLSU near the highway till very close to the ST hostel area.

As per information received from the security guard posted at the Swarn Jayanti gate, fire broke out after a man accidentally threw a lighted bidi in the area. The fire was spotted only after it had grown in size and engulfed a large area.

Police and fire brigade were immediately informed. It took fire brigade over 2 hours to bring the fire under control.
