Fire erupted in forest area behind Badi Lake towards Sajjangarh last night. Huge smoke was seen coming from the area even from far flung areas in the city. Fire could not be brought under control till late night.

As per officials from forest department, the fire had possibly spread from the Badi area. The fire went on to become viral on account of wind an gradually engulfed a large area.

About 30 Officials from forest department along with help of locals tried to get the fire under control. While the team did manage to bring fire under control in many parts, smoke could still be seen emanating till late night from other areas.

Given that inflammatory substances are banned from the forest area, the officials were not sure of the cause of fire and felt that it would have emanated from the Badi side.
