Scrap godown in Madri Industrial Area was on fire on Sunday evening. Smoke from this fire went as high as 50 feet.  There is a scrap godown in MIA on road number 4. Sound of explosion was heard when the godown went up in flames.

The godown full of scrap is owned by Babloo Sardar. Spread on an area of 1.25 acres of land, the godown at road number 4 had some kind of an explosion at 6:15 p.m. vibrations of which were felt by the nearby buildings. Flames could be seen after the explosion.

3 fire brigade vehicles tried to douse the fire initially but could not manage to control this massive fire. 2 more fire brigade vehicles were called for. Fire could finally be controlled around 8 p.m. As per the area residents, there was labour inside the godown at the time of explosion. All of these men ran out after the explosion. Fire spread quickly in the godown since it was full of automobile scrap. Earlier tyres used to be burnt during afternoon in this godown. It was stopped since it received opposition from public. There is also a plastic factory behind the scrap godown. Investigations are on. As per police, no explosion occurred in the godown.
