A Jet Airways flight from Udaipur to Mumbai was forced into an emergency landing yesterday evening when the pilot spotted fire in its cargo hold. The flight made emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI).

The flight with 111 passengers departed from Udaipur yesterday evening for Mumbai. At around 6:31pm, the pilot requested Air Traffic Control (ATC) for an emergency landing. Permission for emergency landing was granted and the flight landed in Ahmedabad at 6:50pm. Fire emergency services along with emergency team rushed to the spot and all passengers and crew were disembarked by 7:05pm.

Manoj Gangal, Director, SVPI confirmed the development and said, “As soon as the pilot signaled the ATC for emergency landing of aircraft that departed from Udaipur, we had kept our team ready. Since our priority were passengers, as soon as the aircraft landed, it was parked at a remote parking so as to not interfere with other movement at the airport. All on board were evacuated and disembarkation was completed at 7:05 pm”
