Udiapol, one of the busiest roundabouts of Udaipur has been witnessing a makeover for the past few months, which has now reached its final stages. This is a part of the initiative of the Municipal Council to give a heritage look to all the major roundabouts of the city. Hindustan Zinc is responsible for the remodeling of the first of its kind at Udiapol.
The work of the circle started around 2 months back, subsequent to a detailed MOU between HZL and UMC, in which HZL given the responsibility for the construction and maintenance of the property, while electricity expenses would be funded by the Municipal Council.
According to the information, a special stone from Chittorgarh has been used by HZL to give the setup a heritage touch. Also, Sodium lights will be replaced with LED lights to reduce the power consumption, as decided in a meeting held a month ago.
Further, in a meeting held a week ago under the chair of UMC Chairperson Rajni Dangi, road lights from Patel Circle to City Station will also be replaced with LED lights. Instructions have also been given to the concerned engineers to install the same at Sardarpura and Panchwati Chowraha in the near future.
“Our first initiative of giving a Heritage look to the major roundabouts will take final shape in less than 45 days”, said Rajni Dangi, Chairperson, UMC.
She also added that “The replacement will not affect the visibility in any case, although it will reduce electricity expense at a rate of Rs. 100 per unit per day”.
