Udaipur is set to welcome a new tourism attraction in November 2024. The state's second lion safari at Sajjangarh Sanctuary is in its final stages of construction and is expected to launch soon. Alongside the safari, the state's first panther rescue center is also nearing completion.
New Rescue Center
Rajasthan's first panther rescue center is soon to be launched in Udaipur. The rescue center is being built at a cost of Rs 4.72 crore. It spans approximately 3 hectares and will feature 18 modern shelters for panthers. These shelters will allow injured and sick panthers to rest comfortably. A dedicated team of doctors will be available at the center to provide treatment and create diet plans based on each panther's condition.
Lion Safari at Sajjangarh
The lion safari will cover 20 hectares. A metal fence and boundary wall have been built around the area. Tourists will be able to drive on raw pathways to observe the lions up close. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
In August, the Forest Department brought a pair of Asiatic lions from Junagadh, Gujarat, for the safari. The male lion, Samrat, is 7 years old, while the female, Sunaina, is 3 years old. Currently, they are housed in the bio park.
