Gangu Kund Fish Dead

On July 11, 2024, thousands of fish were discovered dead in Gangu Kund, causing outrage among locals. It is believed that chlorine was added to the pond, leading to a lack of oxygen and resulting in this mass die-off.

Mahesh Bhavsar, secretary of the Gangu Kund Development Committee, and councillor Manohar Chaudhary reported that such incidents are happening frequently due to administrative negligence. Recently, two people drowned in the area because of inadequate supervision.

Gangu Kund is managed by the Department of Archaeology, which has deployed guards, but proper monitoring is still lacking. Residents are demanding accountability for those responsible for the fish deaths and are calling for an investigation.

They also urge the administration to install cameras around the pond to prevent similar incidents in the future.
