Lake Pollution in Udaipur

In Pichola Lake, a positive change is underway as fountains and oxygen plants have been initiated. This will clean up the lake soon, offering much-needed relief to its inhabitants. The Kumhariya Pond within Pichola Lake, along with Rang Sagar Pond and Swaroop Sagar, is on the brink of transformation. The Municipal Corporation team took action by starting the installation of fountains and oxygen plants in the lake on Wednesday, April 3,2024. These plants will introduce nano bubbles into the water, elevating oxygen levels. Moreover, plans are in place for a thorough cleaning of these lakes in the coming week.

Earlier, the Municipal Corporation had invested Rs 2.9 crore  in January to prepare the oxygen plants. However, the inauguration process faced delays. Tej Shankar Paliwal, a lake enthusiast, expressed optimism about the rise in fish population due to increased oxygen levels. Presently, algae accumulation on the lake surface is blocking sunlight penetration.

As part of the revitalization efforts, sets of two fountains have been installed in Kumhariya Pond, Rang Sagar Pond and Goverdhan Sagar Lake. These fountains come in varying power capacities, with one having 25 horsepower (HP) and the other 10 HP. Additionally, 40-40 HP oxygen machines and 5-5 HP compressors have been integrated. These systems will infuse nano bubble oxygen into the water, augmenting its oxygen content. To facilitate this, pipelines have been strategically laid out across the lake.
