Four members of a family met a tragic death after their car was crushed by a tanker in Mansingh ka Guda, near Charbhuja that comes under Rajsamand district.
As per reports, the tragedy struck when a tanker collided with a speeding trailer, causing it to loose control and overturn. When the trailer overturned, it crashed on a Creta SUV that was coming from the other side on the four - lane highway.
The victims, identified as Purshottam Upadhyay (40), Deenbandhu Upadhyay (32), Purshottam's wife Renuka Upadhyay (34), and Mansukh Devi (68) were all residents of Kelwara in Rajsamand district, presently residing in Hiran Magri, Udaipur.
Local police and the Civil Defence department responded swiftly after receiving alerts from passersby. The Civil Defence team used a hydraulic crane to remove the tanker from the road and retrieve the bodies of the deceased.
Goverdhan Singh, Station House Officer of Charbhuja police station, described the sequence of events: "The victims were en route from Udaipur to Byawar to attend a funeral when the speeding tanker, traveling in the opposite direction, breached the divider, lost control, and overturned onto their car. Unfortunately, all occupants of the car lost their lives on the spot. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary for postmortem."
Authorities are investigating the incident further to determine the exact cause of the accident.
