French and Indian Students Jointly Work on Ideal Udaipur

A workshop cum exhibition was organised today at WZCC office in ‘Bagore Ki Haveli’ Udaipur with the joint efforts of Indian and French Students. It showcased possibilities of making city ideal and efforts required to enhance and maintain historical places located in inner parts of the town.

A workshop cum exhibition was organised today at WZCC office in ‘Bagore Ki Haveli’ Udaipur with the joint efforts of Indian and French Students. It showcased possibilities of making city ideal and efforts required to enhance and maintain historical places located in inner parts of the town.

The document thus obtained would be forwarded to local administration, MMCF (Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation) and to the students of Ecole School of Architecture, Strasburg.

This exhibition majorly highlighted present situation of Old city areas including Bada Bazar, Jagdish Chowk, Chand Pol, Ghanta Ghar, and major Pol’s of Udaipur. Also, a brief of its respective historical importance and ways of reducing congestion in and around areas, with detailed suggestions to make it more beautiful and pollution free.

According to Ritu Deshmuk, Vice Principal of Bhartiya Vidyapeeth College of Agriculture, Navi Mumbai, 33 students of India and 16 French students from Paris have collectively made a research on various parts of the City in over 15 days with the help of NGO’s and Historians of Udaipur. Ritu added that they visited and looked upon every area for its respective history, as there are no written proofs available for some particular places except in the Book on City Palace.

Ritu further informed that they would be handing over this project to Strasburg Students working on master plan of the city as a whole. In various suggestions, project stresses on developing parking places, CTPs (Common Treatment Plant) and Connecting Lakes via Road Network etc.

Francois Nowakowski, Architect, DPLG and leading Student group of 13 from Strasburg, informed that these students are doing masters at Ecole School of Architecture at Strasburg. In this project, they will generate an integrated plan on all historical and natural heritages over their two weeks of research about the city. On 15th Feb, they would be briefing local administration (UIT & UMC) through a presentation along with best suitable alternative to re-develop respective places for their beautification.
