A large number of people including family, friends and well-wishers gathered today to pay homage to the departed BSF Officer Deputy Commandant Tarun Gupta, who died after being swept away in a flooding river on 26^th July at Rajouri district of Jammu, while patrolling the LoC.

Late Tarun Gupta, a St. Paul’s Alumnus was remembered by his school batch mates, teachers and Principal of St. Paul’s School including relatives, social workers and politicians who flocked at Lake Fateh Sagar today evening at 6:30.

Candles were lit in front of the huge garlanded picture of the Late Deputy Commandant followed by a remembrance speech delivered by Tarun Gupta’s uncle and his close friends.

“Tarun Gupta was a genius in everything he attempted in school.  He was a wonderful orator and a great sportsman; overall he was a charming personality and a nice friend to be with,” said Akash Chawat, an architect and batch mate of the Late commander.

Hariprasad Gupta, uncle of Tarun said that being in the Military was Tarun’s childhood dream, which he adopted well till his last breath.

Remembering the early days of Tarun he said, “His father brought him a Military dress and a toy gun when he was a 7-year old; he dressed up in them and visited my house saying Captain Tarun Gupta is Here!”.

Members of Lion’s Club, Staff of St. Paul’s School including Principal Father Joseph were also present to pay tribute to the brave soldier of India who sacrificed his life while serving the nation.

BJP leaders including Gulabchand Kataria were also present with other politicians of Udaipur.
