Udaipur, January 9, 2025 - Shri Ramdev General Motors, operating boats at Fateh Sagar, sent a letter to the UDA Commissioner after their boats were shut down from January 1, 2025 without any official order. The firm argues this is against the rules. Kuldeep Solanki, the firm owner, said that their boats were closed for 158 days during the contract period, leading to dues of about Rs 1.5 crore owed to UDA.
Request for Compensation and Operation Time
The firm has requested to operate their boats for the 158 days they were closed. They also said that UDA should be responsible for compensation if the boats remain shut.
UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain responded that the three-year contract with the firm had ended, and the firm owed 3.50 crore rupees. The firm was given seven days to clear the dues. Shri Ramdev General Motors claimed they had already made the payment, but UDA noted that no one attended a scheduled meeting on January 3. UDA further mentioned that if the payment had been made on time, the boats could have continued operations temporarily.
Current Boat Operations at Fateh Sagar Lake
At present, boat operations continue from two points at Fatehsagar Lake. Ujjain Dreams firm’s solar boats are operating from Moti Magri Point, while Shri Ramdev General Motors petrol-powered boats have been shut for 8 days.
UDA's Plan for Solar Boats at Mumbaiya Bazaar Point
In the new contract, UDA plans that only solar boats will operate from the Mumbaiya Bazaar point to benefit the environment. Despite the closure at Mumbaiya Bazaar, 3,000-4,000 tourists continue to visit the Moti Magri Point for boating.
