GBH Case: Seized Building to be Released, Orders Jodhpur  High Court

In an interesting turn of events, the Jodhpur High Court has ruled in favour of American International Heath Management Ltd (parent organisation of the GBH American Hospital) and ordered that the buildings of the GBH American Hospital at Bedwas be released.

On 24 July, the Udaipur Development Authority had raided that GBH premises and seized a few buildings of the GBH American Hospital on the orders of the Minister of Urban Development, Rajasthan citing unauthorised construction.

Dr Arvind Jha, the Director of AIHML, as per media reports, said that the  company had filed a petition with the Jodhpur High Court after its operational buildings were seized by the UDA claiming that they were unauthorised. As per Dr Jha, the UDA had sent a notice on 12 July, and the company (hospital) had responded to the notice on 21 July). He added that despite the notice being honored in the  given timeline, the UDA still seized the buildings on 24 July, causing a lot of concern for the patients who were admitted in the hospital.

After the hospital had responded to the notice of the UDA on 21 July, MLA Phool Chand Meena of Udaipur Rural had raised the matter at the Vidhan Sabha, and the Minister of Urban Development and Buildings, Jhaabar Singh Kharra had ordered for the UDA to seize the buildings. On 24 July, some buildings were  seized, but in order to contain law and order, the main building was not seized.
