Mumbai-based travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, 27, tragically died after falling into a 300-foot gorge at the Kumbhe Waterfall in Maharashtra's Raigad district. Kamdar, known on Instagram as @theglocaljournal, had over 260,000 followers.

Kamdar, a chartered accountant, was visiting the waterfall on July 16, 2024 with seven friends. While filming an Instagram Reel, she slipped and fell into the gorge, according to Mangaon police.

Her friends quickly alerted local authorities. A rescue operation was launched with support from the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff.

Rescuers faced challenges due to heavy rain and falling stones. Despite these obstacles, Kamdar was pulled out after six hours. Sadly, she died from her injuries at the Mangaon Taluka government hospital.

Authorities have urged tourists to be extremely cautious when visiting waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season.
