Girl Fighting with Lung Cancer Seeks Help

Twenty One year old Ranu Kunwar (in photo above) is in a life-threatening condition after being diagnosed with a critical lung infection while her father Suresh Singh Ranawat is pleading for any possible financial help to save his daughter. The City Administration and various social service organizations have already come forward to assist Ranu.

District Collector Hemant Gera has announced all medicine expenditure to be free-of-cost on her treatment while an NGO, Om Banna Sneh Mandal has offered financial help of Rupees Eleven Thousand towards her treatment. However, more financial help is required to cover the past expenses that have been in excess of Rupees Two Lac, for which Suresh Singh has kept his ancestral house on mortgage, which though, did not help much. Suresh Singh belongs to Jawad village near Neemuch.

Ranu was first admitted to M.B Hospital where she was diagnosed with a lung infection on 26th May, 2012. She was then referred to Geetanjali Hospital, Udaipur on 28th May, where, being critical, she has been admitted to the ICU.

Ranu Kunwar got married on 28th January, 2012 to Ratan Singh Chabra of Paarsoli. Ratan Singh and his family are also trying to save Ranu. Being from a BPL family, efforts are being made to ensure free health care for her, though the parallel expenses need to be met from outside.

The condition of the family has been worsened by the fact that Ranu’s father-in-law is also undergoing treatment in Ahmadabad, as both his Kidneys have been damaged. Suresh Singh, a father of 3 girls is the only bread earner in family with a monthly income as low as Rupees Four Thousand.

Om Banna Sneh Mandal, Udaipur came forward to help the family financially under the banner of “Beti Bachao Abhiyaan”. They provided Rupees Eleven Thousand as financial assistance with Hemendra Singh (Two Thousand One Hundred) and Digvijay Singh (Five Thousand) contributing to the cause.

The NGO personnel also talked to the administration at Geetanjali Hospital, who have accordingly made the hospitalization free of charge, which in other cases would be around Rupees Three to Four Thousand per day.

Anyone who wishes to lend assistance can call R.P. Singh, Member, Om Banna Sewak Mandal on (+91) 8952 8096 87 for related information and procedure.
