More than 250 Indian-operated flights have been disrupted by these hoax calls to airlines
October 25, 2024 – Authorities have started to identify the sources behind the bomb hoax threats which have disrupted more than 250 Indian-operated flights since the past few days. More than 80 flights received hoax bomb threats on October 24 alone.
The government has urgently requested that social media giants Meta and X (formerly Twitter) to provide data on the recent hoax bomb threats targeting airlines.
X, formerly Twitter, has said in a statement that it is “work[ing] around the clock to keep X safer for all our users in India”.
The statement was made the day reportedly after a meeting in which a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology official allegedly accused the social media platform of "abetting" people who were making these threats.
