Goodbye monsoons!! Rajasthan state records 8% surplus rainfall

Monsoons normally withdraw by mid September, but this year the season stretched until September end.

6 districts recorded below normal rainfall, one district received 60 percent more. 

Monsoon has withdrawn from Rajasthan. As per the met department Southwest Monsoon withdrew on Thursday and Rajasthan state has recorded 8% more rainfall this year. 

Monsoons normally retreat by mid September, but this year the process began by September 28th. 449.8 mm rainfall has been recorded in the state of Rajasthan which is 8 percent more than the normal which is 415 mm as stated by the met department.

Eastern Rajasthan received 98 percent of the normal rainfall, the western part received 127 percent rainfall. 6 districts have recorded less than normal rainfall. Alwar, Baran, Bundi, Tonk, Jhunjhunu and Dholpur are in this category. Jodhpur recorded 60 percent more rainfall than normal.

With heavy to medium rains in the catchment areas, Udaipur lakes have started receiving water again. Udaisagar's gates had to be opened once agai. Water level in Badgaon dam has increased and the overflow at Swaroop Sagar has picked up speed. Overall the season was good for the lakes in Mewar region.
