Goverdhan Sagar will now be filled with water from Lake Pichola. There is a canal that links Goverdhan Sagar with Lake Pichola. This canal was blocked since years with debris and plants. This link is almost 1.25 kilometres long and has been cleaned after a great effort which was carried out for more than a month.

This monsoon it is expected that water from Lake Pichola will enter Goverdhan Sagar through this link and public will be able to witness Goverdhan Sagar full of water after 45 years. Reportedly, this linking canal is actually passing through army area and this was the biggest obstacle in cleaning the canal. After getting support from the army in this matter, this canal has finally been cleaned. Goverdhan Sagar was last cleaned in 1973-74 during draught relief works. After this, it remained ignored for years all together. Debris kept collecting in the link and it got blocked, hence obstructing the flow of water.
