Private hospitals, clinics and approved laboratories have been directed to reduce the COVID testing charges from the earlier Rs 2200 to Rs 1200.
Dr Raghu Sharma, Minister of Health and Medicine, Rajasthan, in his statement to the media said that the reduction in the procurement rates of RT-PCR testing kits, reagents, VTM kits and other consumables shall be passed on to the end consumer, which is the public. This decision was taken in a meeting between the minister and senior medicine practioners at SMS Medical College.
With nearly 110,000 positive cases in Rajasthan today, of which 3,445 are from Udaipur, the numbers are rising exponentially and testing infrastructure at government run centers seems to be collapsing with the influx of cases over the last 2 months now. With testing in government operated institutions seemingly coming to a standstill, will there be more discrepancy in reporting the positive numbers?
The current situation in the health ecosystem in Rajasthan seems to be worrying, with COVID patients not being followed up for review testing OR review testing is being delayed in many reported cases.
