Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade urges female students to be self-reliant and empowered; he was speaking at an Alwar University event
Udaipur, February 21, 2025 - Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade has advised female students to retaliate strongly against anyone who is misbehaving with them. He said to not be scared but to slap the miscreant, hit him with a slipper. Nothing will happen, definitely beat them. Be courageous. There are many courageous female students who should be taken as role models to stay strong.
The Governor was speaking yesterday at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the second phase of Raj Rishi Bhartrihari Matsya University in Alwar. He emphasised on the need for change in the education system and the need for girls to be self reliant.
Expressing dismay over the mentality of those who make videos of molestations and share them on social media, he said that people are just filming videos of women being disrespected, molested. He urged to stop using mobiles...run and catch the culprit by the collar. Don't wait for the police, by the time they arrive, someone may already lose their life. Why has this mentality developed? This mentality needs to change, he emphasised.
He added that getting a degree is no longer enough. A degree was useful in the past when jobs were more and degrees were fewer, but that is no longer the case, he explained. Now, intellectual capacity needs to be demonstrated, whether it is for those with reservation or without, there is competition for everyone, he said.
