A fire has been reported at the foothills of Neemach Mata today afternoon. Though no casualties have been reported, the fire came under control after many hours of effort by the city Fire Department and officials of the Forest Department.

A fire has been reported at the foothills of Neemach Mata today afternoon. Though no casualties have been reported, the fire came under control after many hours of effort by the city Fire Department and officials of the Forest Department.

According to sources, the fire broke out in the foothills area of Neemach Mata today at around 11:30am, the main cause of which is assumed to be the high temperature during the day and the dry leaves in that area.

“It was a ground fire which started due to dry leaves spread all over the area and the scorching heat”, said Inder Singh, DFO (North).

The Forest Department got the information of the mishap around 11:30am. Bhanwar Lal, Forester rushed to the scene along with Jaswant Singh, one the Guards and was later joined by volunteers working at the Temple Committee, in an attempt to control the fire.

According to a Forester two main techniques were used to control the fire – counter fire by gathering the leaves at one place and give it a mount shape so that the fire will automatically stop at it and by beating the fire with the help of the branches of the trees.

Range officer Rahul Bhatnagar also went to the site of the fire, which was finally extinguished between 4.30pm-5:00pm.
