Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh and Pankaj Singh sworn in as Cabinet Ministers
February 20, 2025 – Rekha Gupta was sworn in this afternoon as the Chief Minister of Delhi. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Ramlila Ground in the national capital and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and the Chief Ministers from several BJP-led States, including Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
More than 25,000 security personnel and around 15 paramilitary companies were deployed across the city and surrounding areas to maintain strict vigil during the event.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is returning to power in the national capital after a gap of 27 years. It was last in power in Delhi in 1993-1998 and the February 5 elections saw the party win 48 of the 70 seats in the Assembly polls.
Gupta was given the oath by Lt Governor VK Saxena. Additionally, six other BJP MLAs were given the oath as Cabinet Ministers in the Delhi government. These are Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh and Pankaj Singh.
Interestingly, also present at the swearing-in ceremony was AAP MP Swati Maliwal, the former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief, fueling speculation about her future with AAP because of her increasing rift with party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
