Public health experts and nutritionists have asked actor Amitabh Bachchan to dissociate with “Horlicks”. The issue was raised by slamming Amitabh Bachchan for a product that is high in sugar count and cannot be counted as a health product.

“Horlicks is a high sugar product, as 100 gram of a popularly advertised pack of Horlicks Delight, contains 78 gram of carbohydrates of which 32 grams is sucrose sugar,” a letter that has been sent to Bachchan said.

Horlicks has been stated as harmful for children as it contributes to obesity in children. Nutrition Advocacy in Public Interest said that a sugary product is merely a myth for tackling under-nutrition. It was also specified by a neonatologist of a reputed hospital in New Delhi that horlicks campaign is causing adverse effects on people’s lives. It is an extremely expensive product and is likely to drain pockets of people since the belief that Horlicks is a nutritious product is endorsed by Amitabh Bachchan.

In the letter that has been sent to the actor, it has been mentioned that the Horlicks campaign is misleading. The food experts have reminded the actor that he had once disassociated with Pepsi calling it an unhealthy drink and he must do the same in the case of Horlicks.
