'Dharmendra Stable and Recovering'; Hema Malini Slams Fake News of Demise
Family urges media to act responsibly after false reports of Bollywood legend’s demise spread online
Nov 11, 2025 - Dharmendra, known as Bollywood's “He Man”, is stable and recovering. His wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, have confirmed this and dismissed rumours of his demise.
Esha wrote on Instagram, "The media is spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family some privacy. Thank you for your prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery."
Reacting angrily to the news spreading in the media that the veteran actor was no more, Hema Malini wrote, "What is happening is unforgivable. How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding well to treatment and recovering? This is very disrespectful and irresponsible. Please respect the family and their need for privacy."
The actor was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Monday, November 10, with complaints of breathing difficulties. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Govinda visited the hospital to check on him. The whole Deol family has been there since he was admitted.
On the evening of November 10, Hema Malini shared a photo of Dharmendra on social media, wrting wrote, "I thank everyone who showed concern for Dharam ji, who is under the care of doctors in the hospital. He is being monitored constantly. We are all with him. Please pray for his quick recovery."
Dharmendra is one of the most loved and respected actors in Hindi cinema. In a career of more than seven decades, he has worked in more than 300 films, including hits like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Seeta Aur Geeta and Dharam Veer. His famous dialogue Basanti, in kutte ke aage mat naachna from Sholay is still remembered today.
Even at 89, Dharmendra remains active in films. He was recently seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. His next film, 21kis with Agastya Nanda, will release on December 25.
