Tribal women have earned a handsome amount from the manufacture of herbal gulal this festive season. Sources reveal that these tribal women who are a part of forest department committees and Svayam Sahayata Samooh made around 5000 kilos of herbal gulal for this holi seaon of 2018. Reportedly they have earned more than 6 lakh rupees from this hard work.

The best part is that tribal women have earned the benefit of employment and their earning will prove to be a great support for their families. Each gulal packet was priced at 35 rupees per 250 grams. Tribal women have remarked that this earning is much more than the minimum daily wages they receive as labour. The entire amount was distributed among all the ladies who put in their hard work for making gulal.

They made these herbal gulal packets with flowers from amaltas, palash, gulmohar, bark of amla tree, and even castor leaves. Ararot powder and fragrances were also added to these. Manufacture of Herbal gulal has added to the employment for tribal women. They are experts in making this gulal since in the ancient times natural products were used to make these colours for holi and then there was no chemical used for this festive season. With developments and changing times, a variety of chemical colours came into market. Since chemical colours were found to be harmful for skin, herbal gulal came back into existence and will replace chemical colours for good.
