Continuing their long pending demand of a High Court Bench in Udaipur, advocates in Udaipur today launched into a protest outside State Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria’s house. The protest was carried out against the false assurance that State Government had been giving them for past many years about a high court bench.

The advocates gathered inside the court compound today and took out a vehicle rally that passed through Court Circle, Delhi Gate, Surajpole towards Kataria’s house in Machhla Magra area. Police was already prepared for this and had put barricades at some distance before the State Home Minister’s residence. The protesting advocates parked their vehicles their and walked towards Kataria’s house.

Kataria was not at his place when the protesting advocates reached. The protestors raised slogans against the minister and the state government. They later stationed themselves in a garden opposite Kataria’s house and continued their protest till late afternoon.

The protesters said that all across India, work is on for providing a high court bench wherever there is a tribal area. They said that Udaipur is an only exception where despite a huge Adivasi belt around there is no high court bench. This makes it very difficult and expensive for tribal people around to travel and fight for their rights.
