Hunger Strike Ends as University increases seats
After more than 54 hours of hunger strike for increasing the number of seats in various faculties of MLSU, upon intimation of critical medical report of one of the students on strike, Vice Chancellor called for a COD (Committee of Deans) meeting in administrative wing of the university.
After more than 54 hours of hunger strike for increasing the number of seats in various faculties of MLSU, upon intimation of critical medical report of one of the students on strike, Vice Chancellor called for a COD (Committee of Deans) meeting in administrative wing of the university.
Today, on the third day of hunger strike by CSS a medical check of students on strike was conducted earlier in the evening. One of the students Amit Paliwal was declared to be critical on medical grounds, the checkup was carried out by Dr. Hemant Madhur, HOD, MB hospital.
In light of medical report presented by doctors COD meeting was called by Vice Chancellor, the first meeting concluded without any decision, but since Amit Paliwal denied to break strike, the meeting was called again wherein it was decided to increase the number of seats by 30% of the present capacity.
As soon as the decision was announced, celebrations started among students, who lit fire crackers outside University campus and distributed sweets among themselves.
According to Surya Prakash Suhalka, General Secretary, CSS, university administration was unwilling to add seats, but when students approached Education Minister, Daya Ram Parmar, he helped students by requiring a favor from Vice Chancellor.
