HZ Employees Demand 3.5 percent Shares
Hundreds of employees of Hindustan Zinc conducted a rally regarding the allotment of 3.5% shares of Hindustan Zinc to its employees. The rally started from the Town Hall which headed to Collectorate to hand over a memorandum to the District Collector, Hemant Gera.

The memorandum was given in the name of the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Ministry of Mines of India.
The employees demanded quick transfer of 3.5% shares of Hindustan Zinc to the retired, retired under VRS and the existing employees who have spent their ten years as a permanent employee of the organization (1967-2002).
According to the letter, while disinvesting Hindustan Zinc Ltd, the government signed an agreement which states the possession of 5% of the shares to the employees of the organization. They have got their 1.5% shares, but still they are falling back by 3.5%.
The employees said that, taking the advantage of their ignorance those 3.5% shares are still due to be transferred to them. On the other hand, there are over 8000 employees of HZL who are members of INTUC since last 45 years and have contributed everything possible to raise funds (in crores) for National Defense Fund.
Another demand was to provide financial help of at least Rs. 2000 per month to the widows and extremely poor women of the retired/VRS employees of HZL from the ‘Employee Welfare Fund’.
For the record, the ‘Employee Welfare Fund’ is raised by mutual contribution of the employees and Govt. of India for the welfare of the employees and their families.
Gopal Sharma, Patron; K.K Sharma, President; Zakir Hussain, Sr. Vice President; Dinesh Hinger, Vice President; Radheyshyam Sen, Gen. Secretary; Harish Arya, Secretary; Brijmohan Jat, Finance Secretary; Manji Meena, President ( ZM); Bhanwar Chawariya, President (RDM) and Bherudan Rao (ZSD) were the key ones to present the memorandum.
