More than 25 farmers, including women, from 15 villages, participated; information was shared about the progress of the Samadhan Project and about livestock activities in Jawar Mines region
Udaipur, March 8, 2025 - Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), under the rural development programme of Jawar Mines, organised an advanced breed cattle exhibition at the community centre in Jawar Mines under the Samadhan Project. More than 25 farmers, including women, from 15 villages, participated in the event, whose livestock had benefitted from artificial insemination (AI) to improve health and productivity. During the event, information was shared about the progress of the Samadhan Project and about livestock activities in the Jawar Mines region. The special guests for the event were Dr Rajendra Dorwal, Nodal Officer of the Livestock Department, Jaisamand, and Ram Murari, SBUs director, HZL, Jawar Mines.
Ram Murari praised the agricultural and livestock activities being run by HZL and the BAIF organisation in the surrounding villages and urged farmers to make the most of these opportunities. The event also provided information about livestock activities run by BAIF and the benefits they offer, and emphasised the importance of the sorted semen used by BAIF. Subsequently, Dr Dorwal suggested ways for farmers to improve their standard of living through livestock farming and increase income by integrating livestock with farming. He also shared information about various ongoing schemes from the department. He advised farmers on the importance of good nutrition and hygiene practices for livestock and stressed that these are crucial for long-term health and productivity.
During the event, the healthiest calves conceived through AI were awarded and farmers honoured for their significant contributions to the initiative's success.
HZLs Samadhan Project has benefited more than 30,000 farming families across five districts of the State. Of these, more than 3,000 women farmers have been trained in adopting agricultural innovations and are involved in advanced agriculture, while more than 5,000 others have received training in better agricultural and livestock techniques. Additionally, more than 10,000 farmers have been connected to better agricultural practices through training and capacity-building, and have benefited from government schemes. More than 15,000 farmers have received assistance in high-tech vegetable farming, low-tunnel farming, trellis farming, mushroom farming, horticulture, etc.
