The Udaipur administration took action against illegal hill cutting at Bedla, connected to Ambaya Magra, by demolishing unauthorized construction on government land. The UDA deployed a bulldozer to dismantle the structure on November 6, 2024, following reports from nearby residents who noticed ongoing construction for the past 4-5 days. This incident highlights the growing issue of hill cutting for commercial use, despite strict court orders.
According to an order by the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur, hill cutting is strictly prohibited to protect natural landscapes. However, unauthorized construction has continued on this government-owned hill land, which is registered under the UDA. Officials reported that the UDA previously halted construction on November 1, but builders resumed work in defiance of the ban.
Upon receiving complaints from local residents, UDA authorities conducted a thorough investigation, confirming that the land belongs to the government. Local residents expressed concerns over the environmental impact and potential harm to the natural landscape. They approached the district administration and the UDA commissioner, urging them to take decisive action.
