UIT demolished 7 under-construction houses in Amberi area. The incident took place on Tuesday. 5 of the families who have started living here have been given 10 days’ time to vacate the premises. A land in Amberi is registered under UIT but since the entire UIT team was busy during election period, some people took advantage of the fact and encroached this land and started constructing their houses. When UIT learnt of this fact, they went to take action against these illegal constructions. UIT had to face an opposition of the people responsible for these constructions but none could stand against them for long as the land legally belongs to UIT.

Before taking these strict steps, UIT had sent notices to these builders which went ignored. Then the teams had to go ahead for demolishing these illegally built houses. 5 of the families who are already living here have been given time to vacate the area on humanitarian grounds. If the land is not vacated even after 10 days, then the constructions will be demolished without fail.
