The administration in Savina recently undertook a rapid operation to remove a decades-old encroachment under the tower within the main vegetable market area. This action, completed in just 30 minutes, marked a significant step towards reclaiming public space and ensuring fair business practices.
Encroachment Removal Operation
On May 8, under the supervision of district authorities and law enforcement, the administration successfully removed encroachments by 20 Shopkeepers who were illegally occupying space under the tower. This move came after prior warnings and notices were issued to all shopkeepers to clear encroachments.
Collaborative Efforts
The operation received collaborative support from various authorities, including the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA), Municipal Corporation, and local police. Key officials, such as the Regional Joint Director of the Mandi, Sanjeev Pandya, and Market President Mukesh Khilwani, were present during the operation to ensure its smooth execution.
Continued Vigilance
Sanjeev Pandya, the Regional Joint Director, told traders that the fight against encroachments will continue. He reminded them to stick to the assigned areas for business to avoid getting into trouble with the law.
Previous Notices and Suspended License
Prior to the operation, shopkeepers were notified and given ample time to voluntarily remove encroachments. Despite warnings, one trader lost their license for not following the rules. But some encroachments still stayed, so the authorities had to act firmly.
Trader Protests and Explanation
During the operation, some traders voiced their opposition to the removal of encroachments. In response, Market President Mukesh Khilwani provided explanations, reaffirming the necessity of the action for maintaining order and fairness in the market.
