District Collector today took the decision for widening of the roads leading to the Pratap Nagar crossroads. The decision was taken in a meeting with officials of UIT, PWD and NHAI today.

Ashutosh A.T Pednekar, District Collector, Udaipur informed that the crossroad is currently under heavy pressure due to extremely high movement of transport vehicles through the junction. It may be noted that the crossroad and the roads leading to it have been witness to a very high number of accidental deaths and the widening exercise is expected to bring some respite.

Pednekar added that UIT has undertaken acquired large piece of land few years back, but failed to construct road due to technical problems that arose since UIT, PWD and NHAI were all involved in expansion of different stretches.

It was decided in the meeting that the expansion will be done jointly by UIT, PWD and NHAI with each taking care of their own stretches. Some sections of dividers on roads leading to the crossroads have already been trimmed for immediate relief. Trimming of balance dividers will also be carried out as part of the exercise

 Pednekar further informed that area demarcation for road widening would be carried out in next few days. As soon as demarcation is completed, work orders of road construction will be given by the respective departments to contractors.
