The train passengers; women, senior citizens and handicapped people who travel alone are now most likely to be allotted confirmed lower berth from 1^st April onward.

It has been a provision since 2007 by railways that two berths of each sleeper, third AC and second AC coach of long distance reserved trains will be kept reserved to women of 45 years and more, senior citizens, pregnant women and handicapped people.

Now, the railway board has confirmed 4 lower berths in each sleeper coach while the number of reserved berths remains the same in AC coaches. These berths will be situated in the middle of the coach.
