India Advises its Nationals in Iran to 'Expeditiously Exit' the Country

April 8, 2026 - After earlier asking Indian nationals in Iran to “stay where you are for next 48 hours”, India has now issued a new advisory and “strongly advised” its citizens to “expeditiously exit” the Islamic Republic. The Indian Embassy in Iran put out a message on its social platform X telling Indian nationals to exit through the routes suggested.
"It is again reiterated that there should be no attempt to approach any international land border without prior consultation and coordination with the Embassy," the Embassy advised and also gave out its emergency contact numbers - +989128109115; +989128109109; +989128109102; +989932179359, and mail id - cons.tehran@mea.gov.in.
The West Asia war, involving the US-Israel and Iran, is currently under a two-week ceasefire agreed upon by the Trump administration and Tehran till a broader settlement is arrived at in the coming days.
