India Issues 'Leave Iran' Advisory to Nationals Amid US Strike Fears
Second round of talks between Iran-US will be held on February 26 in Geneva; Iran rocked by a fresh wave of protests by students across the country
Feb 23, 2024 - The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory to its citizens in Iran to leave the country by any means of transport available. This urgent advisory comes amid fears of military action in the region as tensions between the US and Iran escalate.
The advisory issued by the Embassy read, “In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights.”
All Indian nationals in the country - students, businessmen, pilgrims and tourists - have also been advised to have their essential travel documents with them in case they need to leave the country urgently. Helpline numbers have also been issued.
Meanwhile, the second round of talks between the two countries will be held on February 26 in Geneva on a possible nuclear agreement even as Iran has been rocked by a fresh wave of protests by students in several universities across the country.
