India Signs US-Led Pax Silica Declaration at AI Summit 2026
India signs the Pax Silica Declaration with the United States, strengthening cooperation on semiconductors, AI and critical minerals
Feb 20, 2026 – India signed the Pax Silica Declaration on the sidelines of the Global AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Friday (February 20) marking a significant expansion of the bilateral ties with the US. The agreement was signed by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg alongside US Ambassador Sergio Gor.
The move is seen as part of broader cooperation between India and the United States on trade, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) and critical minerals.
"The country has a direction, a clear goal, and we have to take global leadership in the semiconductor industry and the electronics industry," said Vaishnaw.
Launched by the US in December 2025, Pax Silica is a strategic, non-binding agreement adopted by a group of like-minded allied nations to strengthen and secure global technology and industrial supply chains. The declaration is meant to help it partners build secure, diversified and innovation-friendly technology ecosystems and not have to rely heavily on any one dominant producer, especially in areas of critical minerals, semiconductors, AI and related digital infrastructure
Countries that have endorsed this declaration are the US, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Greece and Israel. India is the latest to join the collaboration.
The US-led Pax Silica is seen as a foundation for deeper collective projects and policies across advanced technology sectors.
