May 7, 2025 - A joint operation was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces early this morning, May 7,  termed “Operation Sindoor” using precision strikes weapons to strike nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The targets were Muridke and Bahawalpur, reportedly strongholds of terror groups, and 80-90 alleged terrorists are said to have been killed.

Four targets were inside Pakistan and five in POK and are reportedly linked to terror outfits JeM, LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen.

A press release said Indian armed forces' airstrikes under Operation Sindoor have been non-escalatory in nature and did not target Pak military facilities.

A government release has said that “No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted”. Sources say Jaish hideouts in POK have come under attack.

The strikes come in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 26 tourists were killed on April 22.

EAM Jaishankar has posted on X, "The world must show zero tolerance for terror".

India has briefed world leaders on its action. Israel has backed India's right to defend. Further, as per reports, 17 airports in north India have been closed temporarily as part of Operation Sindoor. Jaipur airport is operational as usual.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reacted to the attacks saying, "Proud of our Armed Forces".
