Udaipur, June 25, 2026 | National News: The Indian Army has launched an official Instagram fact-check account, @indianarmyfactcheck, to tackle the growing spread of misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, and AI-generated deepfake content targeting the force.

The new handle will serve as the Army's official platform for issuing verified updates, debunking false claims, and providing swift clarifications on misleading content circulating across social media.

Announcing the initiative, the Indian Army urged the public to remain cautious while consuming and sharing information related to the armed forces.

"Be Aware and Stay Alert. Verify before you amplify. Trust only official sources. Stand with truth."

According to the Army, the @indianarmyfactcheck account will actively identify and counter fake news, digitally manipulated videos, fabricated images, and misleading narratives intended to create confusion or spread propaganda against the Indian Army.

The initiative comes at a time when AI-generated deepfakes and coordinated misinformation campaigns are becoming increasingly sophisticated. In recent months, several manipulated videos falsely portraying senior Indian Army officials making controversial statements have circulated online. Many of these posts were later traced to propaganda networks operating from Pakistan and were debunked by the Government of India's fact-checking agencies.

The Army said the dedicated fact-check handle is designed to ensure that citizens, journalists, and social media users have a trusted source for authentic information. By publishing verified updates and rapid rebuttals, the platform aims to curb the spread of false narratives before they gain wider traction.

Officials have urged the public not to forward or amplify unverified content and instead verify its authenticity through official government and Indian Army communication channels.

With the launch of @indianarmyfactcheck, the Indian Army has strengthened its efforts to safeguard the information ecosystem against fake news, hostile propaganda, and AI-powered deepfakes while encouraging responsible use of social media.

The Army has encouraged citizens to follow @indianarmyfactcheck on Instagram for authentic updates and fact-checks related to the Indian Army.
