IndiGo Flight Crisis Hits Udaipur: Travellers Protest Inside Airport Terminal
Travellers stranded at Udaipur Airport accuse IndiGo of poor communication and abrupt cancellations.
Udaipur,4 December 2025- India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is facing a significant operational disruption from last few days , and around 300 flights also got cancelled on Thursday and hundreds more delayed over the past few days. The sudden cancellations have triggered widespread inconvenience and protests from passengers at major airports across the country.
Long queues were seen at IndiGo ticketing kiosks as passengers demanded rescheduling of flights and questioned the airline’s handling of the situation. Airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and several other cities reported severe delays.
In this row the situation at Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur grew tense on Thursday evening when passengers of a cancelled IndiGo flight were denied boarding and began protesting inside the terminal. The agitated travellers raised slogans against both the Airport Authorities and IndiGo Airlines.
One of the passengers told Udaipur Times, "Our IndiGo flight has got cancelled. One of the pilots told me that the company has more number of flights and more number of pilots—then why is this happening? If it had happened due to any natural calamity, we would have agreed. But being a big company with so much of reserves and so much backing, the problem is arising—that too not for the first time. We were told by the authorities that you just get the tickets cancelled and we will give you a full refund. But who would assure that we will get the tickets at the same price."
The same passenger added, "The IndiGo people should be criminally punished for sure. Why is this happening again and again?"
Another passenger travelling from Udaipur to Bengaluru said, "I was travelling to Bangalore and when we came to the airport at 6 PM, they suddenly told us that our flight has been cancelled and there is no other flight for another 5 days. They do not care whether we sit at the airport or go back to the place in the city from where we came. We are feeling helpless as my mother is also crying—we do not have any place to go."
A worried mother from Bengaluru shared her distress: "The authorities are begging in front of us, they are saying sorry but that is not enough. They have to do something as my kids are waiting at home. For the last ten days we have been travelling and we had an early schedule from Ahmedabad—it would be from Udaipur to Bangalore. Today it suddenly got cancelled and they are not ready to reschedule it."
Another passenger, a young woman heading to Bengaluru, described the lack of communication: "We reached the airport at around 5 PM on Thursday evening. We got our boarding passes and were waiting for the flight which was scheduled at 6 PM, and we had no information about any delay or cancellation of the flight. One of the staff members came and told me that the flight got delayed till 9 PM, but all were wondering why we got no information earlier if it was so."
She added, "After half an hour, we saw a message flashing on the screen about the delay of the flight. But as soon as we entered into the airport premises and were at the security counter, we got to know that the flight had been cancelled. But the authorities are not bothered to tell us the reason for the cancellation. Later, when we enquired about it on our own, we learnt that there was some operational issue, software issue and also backlogs. I have my brother's birthday—we all wanted to give a pleasant surprise. He is alone at home, but now what can we do?"
According to media reports, at least 95 flights were cancelled in Delhi, 85 in Mumbai, 70 in Hyderabad, and 50 in Bengaluru, in addition to widespread disruptions in other cities.
IndiGo has not yet issued a detailed explanation for the large-scale disruption, though initial reports indicate internal operational challenges.
