The Transport Department has issued a important announcement regarding the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) for older vehicles. Owners are urged to comply with the directive before the deadline of June 30, 2024. Failure to do so may result in penalties as the Traffic Police will commence issuing challans post the cutoff date.

According to a senior official from the Transport Department, vehicles with last digits ranging from one to six have a grace period. Owners of these vehicles can apply for HSRP installation and will not be fined if they present the application slip during routine checks.

The cost for obtaining the new registration plates has been fixed as follows: Rs 425/- for two-wheelers, Rs 470/- for three-wheelers, Rs 695/- for cars, Rs 730/- for medium and heavy motor vehicles, and Rs 495/- for tractors and agricultural vehicles.

Vehicle owners falling within the range of purchases made between 2009 and April 2019 are mandated to comply with this regulation. To facilitate the process, residents can access the State Transport Department's portal. There, they will find a dedicated link for HSRP, redirecting them to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) website, where they can book an installation slot.

Upon booking a slot on the SIAM website, owners must complete the registration process and proceed to a designated local dealership for installation. Payment can be made online to streamline the procedure.

With the deadline approaching, it is imperative for vehicle owners to act promptly to avoid any inconvenience or penalties. Stay informed and ensure compliance with the Transport Department's directives regarding HSRP installation.
