March 8, 2025 - To mark International Women's Day, female police officers will be in charge of the security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event today in Gujarat's Navsari district. The State's Minister for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghvi said that such an arrangement will be for the first time in the country.
Female police officers will be responsible for PM's security from the helipad in Vansi Borsi village to the event venue. Sanghvi informed that more than 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 inspectors, 16 DSPs, five SPs, one IG and one Additional DGP-rank officer will be part of the security team. Senior IPS officer and Home Secretary Nipuna Torawane will oversee the security arrangements.
The Minister said that this initiative will show the world on Women's Day how women are playing a crucial role in making Gujarat a safe State.
At Vansi Borsi today, PM Modi will participate in the Lakhpati Didi conference and will honour all the women involved. He will also launch the State's G-Maitri amd G-Safal schemes.
G-Maitri will provide financial and hand-holding support to startups working to create a favourable environment for rural livelihoods. G-Safal will offer financial assistance and entrepreneurship training to women’s self-help groups from Antyodaya families.
This will be PM Modi's second visit to Gujarat within a week. He had earlier visited the State on the occasion of World Wildlife Day during which he had toured the Gir Lion Safari and Anant Ambani's Vantara wildlife centre.
