230 students from 22 schools of Udaipur participated in the First Inter School Chess Competition that started today at St. Anthony’s School at Goverdhan Vilas.

The event started with a prayer. Vikas Sahu, the competition coordinator and chess trainer informed that the Chief Guest of the program was Father Thomas Remigius of St. Paul’s School and Special Guest was Herman Norbert of Maitri Sadan. Elvin Dsouza, Director of St. Anthony’s headed the program.

3 rounds were played in 2 different categories on the first day of competition, the results are as follows:

In Individual Category

Class 1-4: Alpesh Patni, Sarthak Jain, Devansh Chechani, Pallav Choudhary, Dhruv Kalani, Yash Maheshwari, Swapni Yadav (3 points), Ishaan Vyas, Vidit Chouhan (2.5 points)

Class 5-8: Manthan Chittora, Ujjawal Soni, Aditi Kothari, Vandan Lodha, Ojas Shukla, Akshat Talesra, Priyansh Jain, Dhiraj Nehlani, Varun Soni (3 points), Prabhav Maheshwari, Bhuvan Choubisa, Subodh Nayak, Nitansh Kalra (2.5 points)

Class 9-12: Yash Purohit, Dhruval Shah, Gaurav Jain, Akshayraj Kumawat, Ayush Jain, Tarang Gupta, Vijayraj Purohit (3 points), Priyanshu Vaya, Sidhharth Seth, Monika Sahu, Mudit Babel (2 points)

Class 1-4: St. Anthony’s, St. Paul’s and M.D.S

Class 5-8: St. Anthony’s, C.P.S, M.M.P.S, and M.D.S

Class 9-12: Alok, C.P.S, St. Anthony’s and M.D.S

The remaining rounds would be conducted tomorrow on 27^th April, which will also be the final day of the event and will comprise of the closing ceremony and prize distribution. The Chief Guest will be Sharad Chandra Purohit, former Director, SIERT and Rajendra Teli (FIDE arbiter, FIDE rated player and national chess trainer).
