March 1, 2026 - Fresh explosions have rocked Dubai, Doha and Manama as Iran escalated strikes after the death of its Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini. Two people in Dubai were injured from the falling debris of intercepted drones. The Defence Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said Iran fired 137 missiles and 209 drones at the country on Saturday (February 28).

So far, around 201 people have been killed in Iran since the strikes started. One woman is reported killed in strikes on Israel. Israel says it has dropped more than 1,200 bombs on Iran over the past day.

Dubai in the UAE is the most hit in the retaliatory attacks by Iran. The US’ CIA facility in the city was hit as also the Jebel Ali port from where smoke could be seen rising on Sunday (March 1) morning. At least three explosions were heard in Dubai earlier today followed by more blasts. Reports say four were injured at Dubai International Airport following an overnight strike. Stranded passengers at the airport had to be evacuated through smoke-filled corridors of one of the world’s busiest airports.

In the sub-continent, a mob stormed the US Embassy complex in Pakistan’s Karachi and set the building on fire. Police say six have been killed in the clash near the US Consulate.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has vowed to use “never seen before force” if Tehran retaliates.
