West Asia War Day 34: Iranian Defiance and US Narrative of 'Success'
April 1, 2026: Iran's strategy continues to centre on survival against multiple military forces, while leveraging its control over strategic energy routes like the Strait of Hormuz. The enduring resilience of the Iranians are posing a dilema for the US and continues to raise questions on the long-term approach in the west Asian conflict. The US narrative of success is continuing to be met with Iranian defiance on all fronts. The US rhetoric oscillates between sounding off a narrative of victory, while at the same time threatening further escalation, making the confusion on the way ahead very obvious.
Trump's public speech, which was being looked up to with expectations of closure and certainity, was anything but convincing as per media reports in the UK. Statements like 'That's so underground, I don't care about that" on getting hold of Iran's enriched uranium reserves; 'will open up naturally once the war ends because the Iranians need money from oil too' on the opening up of the Strait of Hormuz sounded 'absurd'. Meanwhile, as per the Economist, Iran's oil revenue has more than doubled in the period of the West Asian war perpetrated by the US and Israel jointly.
No Enmity Message
As per inputs from Reuters, Iranian state media Press TV reported that the Iranian President said in a letter addressed to the American people that his country harbours no enmity towards the common American. He added that portraying Iran as a threat to America was neither consistent with history nor with the present day apparent facts.
Strikes
The IRGC, as per Iranian state TV has claimed that US linked industries based in UAE, Bahrain and the hideout of US 'terrorist forces' near Manama were hit in wave 90. IRGC also claims that
Escalation and Threats
The IRGC Aerospace chief, in a message on the Iranian state media, slammed the US threat to bomb Iran into the 'stone ages' and said that the US will be sending soldiers to 'graves under stones' if such a adventure was undertaken. Iran threatened 'crushing' attacks on the US and Israel, while firing missiles at Tel Aviv. As Trump spoke, Iranian response was immediate - with Israeli air defence pressed into action with the police responding to impact sites across Tel Aviv. "With trust in the Almighty God, this war will continue until your humiliation, disgrace, permanent and certain regret, and surrender" said a statement from the Iranian Military command centre Khatam-Al-Anbiya on state TV.
Strait of Hormuz: Global talks without the US
The UK is hosting talks today with 35 countries, including United Arab Emirates, Canada, Italy, France, Germany among others. The purpose is to discuss strategies for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This comes a day after the US President made it clear that opening the Strait of Hormuz was the responsibility of the countries that rely on the waterway. The NATO countries have refused to entertain participation of the US led war and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on April 1 that the meeting will explore 'all viable diplomatic and political measures' to reopen the strategic waterway. Meanwhile, President Macron of France said in a statement to reporters while on a trip to South Korea, that attempting to open the Strait of Hormuz by force would be unrealistic and warned of high risks.
