A jewellery shop was robbed in Bapu Bazar on Tuesday night. The modus operandi was such that the nearby police station also did not get to know of a robbery happening in their area.

The robbers played smart. They brought along bundles of wood, truck jack and a variety of tools for committing the crime smoothly. They broke the third floor’s wall and carried out the robbery comfortably. It is just that they were not able to break the safe inside the shop.

Prashant Kothari s/o Takhat Singh Kothari closed the shop T jewellers around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Wednesday morning when he entered his shop, he found things scattered here and there. The money box was lying open. Then he found that the wall of the third floor had a hole from where the robbers probably entered.

Some construction work is going on the shop nearby. This could have made it easy for the robbers to reach the third floor. They placed the truck jack between two walls and used pressure on the wall with the help of wood bundles. This could have helped in creating a hole in the wall.

After entering the shop, they grabbed whatever they could. This consisted of gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The robbers tried to open the safe but couldn’t. The safe had heavy jewellery inside which the robbers couldn’t take.

It is extremely surprising that there is a police station nearby and even patrolling goes on but none could even guess that something was going on in this jewellery shop.
